60 years Magazine

From this simple and effective design of the late 1940s and early 1950s to the horrors of today.

Zhen Huang

Zhen was another of my students. His book presents the beauty and complexity of Chinese characters to a Western audience. He really immersed himself in the research and nuances of page design.

"Chinese characters and language is the origin of many asian character and language systems. They are amazingly beautiful and carry large amount of history, culture, and art within. The book Zi introduces the basics of one of the greatest human invention - Chinese characters. The book contains its hisotry, styles, and formationm it also contains some famous Chinese poems which allows the readers to truly appreciate the beauty of each Chinese character. I applied my knowledge of graphic design from both eastern and western culture to create this book and to introduce Chinese culture to western audience."

The Museum of Letters

The Museum of Letters is devoted to preserving and documenting letterforms. We are currently in the process of putting together our permanent collection and are actively searching out outstanding letterforms and typographic objects that merit preservation.

re branding IBM

When I first came across it, the IBM Smarter Planet campaign immediately grabbed my attention. The collaboration between Office and Ogilvy & Mather resulted in a series of bright, bold icons that have been used billboards, advertisements, posters and more both nationally and internationally.

Foxes

In our upcoming issue, Deidre will be exploring the allure of the fox. To complement the article, I am gathering a "gallery of foxes." I've already invited a few illustrator favourites for their work but am opening it up to our readers! To participate, send us your fox illustrations and inspirations by Friday, February 19. Submissions must be at least 4" wide at 300dpi to be considered for publication. Label the file with your last name, and submit it here. Please send a follow up email with your full name, address, email and a brief description of your submission. There's only room for a few submissions! Thanks.
